Here are 3 data maps. Here is how they were created:
1. I download data from Pub Med for last 10 years - all articles published in the Journal of Pediatric Surgery, and save as .xml file
2. I wrote a program in Ruby language to get the author, city, state, country, zip code, keyword, and other data
3. Another program was used to created histograms from some of this data: the Top Ten and Top 25 Zips were analyzed (ie., where do the articles in JPS come from?)
4. The zip codes were converted to GPS data
5. The GPS data was used with Google Maps and Google Earth to create these maps:
